The Jaguar 00 – Bold Or Brash?
by Marsh Finance on Apr 2, 2025 11:21:25 AM
Jaguar shocked the car world recently with its rebrand. The classic Jaguar and elegant font were replaced by block lettering, symbolising a strip back to basics. The new minimalism wave has clearly grabbed Jaguar's attention and inspired them to completely rip up their history and start fresh, but how will this work?
The new Jaguar brand introduced their first design at Paris fashion week, the Jaguar 00. Driven around the streets of Paris with actor Barry Keoghan, the car captured plenty of attention with its unique shaping and design. Public opinion is mixed on the Jaguar type 00, although most seem to be shocked by what Jaguar is doing with this new model. Have they alienated their target audience? Let’s take a look at the Jaguar 00 in more detail and see what all the fuss is about.

Jaguar Type 00 – A Closer Look
‘Copy nothing’ is the tag line provided by Jaguar, and this has definitely been followed. The Jaguar 00 has aggressive straight lines, a long front end and no rear-window, already putting it in a pretty interesting space in the industry. With vibrant colours on offer (Miami Pink and London Blue), the car has a cartoon look on the exterior and isn’t comparable to anything on the market. Straight lines wrap around the back of the car, too, and give the car an almost cardboard box feel.
The launched car at Paris Fashion Week won’t actually be the car that hits our roads in 2026 though, with changes made to fit 5 doors and reduce the covering over the wheels. The car has been spotted in testing, and looks fairly different to the debuted 00, although it still retains some interesting features.

Jaguar Type 00 Interior
The inside of the Jaguar 00 is minimalism to a tee. There’s hardly anything inside the car, and the interior looks more like a kitchen counter than a car! Gold straight surfaces with a large divider between the driver and passenger create a minimalist feel, and a lack of buttons or dials completes the limited interior. Tech-wise, two infotainment screens do pop up once you start the car, and these have the technology to match other cars in the market. The Jaguar 00 is clean and slick and gives you the absolute basics to drive, albeit with luxury finishes.
Under The Jaguar 00 Bonnet
The Jaguar type 00 will be electric, with a range of 478 miles. With a pretty solid range, the car only requires 30-35 minutes to reach full charge using a fast-charging port, helping you cut down on those unwanted lengthy charging breaks.
In terms of electric vehicles, the industry is still undecided on the long-term potential of these cars, with battery issues hitting customers in winter and values plummeting year after year. If you are looking to make an electric purchase like the Jaguar 00, consider the potential value drop and the likelihood of a battery change a few years into ownership.

Money Talks – Jaguar Type 00 Expected Cost
When the Jaguar 00 hits our roads in 2026, prices are expected to start from £100,000 and can rise based on performance add-ons and customisations. This price is quite steep, especially when you compare it against similar models. As a saloon-style electric vehicle that packs plenty of punch, we’ve found similar cars, and the difference in price is fairly large.
The Audi Q6 e-Tron is a large SUV electric, and brand new will only cost you around £70,000. The 2025 Porsche Panamera, a popular electric option, starts from £82,000. You could argue that these two cars are more reliable and have a longer standing in the market, and their lower price should be a warning for Jaguar. Nevertheless, £100,000 does put it below some similar options like the BMW M8, the Mercedes EQS and the Audi RS e-tron GT. You could argue in this regard that the Jaguar is priced competitively against rivals, but the two cheaper options (Audi Q6 e-Tron and Porsche Panamera) are up there with the best in their category and are a much better option than the Jaguar 00.

Has Jaguar Alienated Its Existing Customers?
“We do need to create and attract a new client base. They’ll be younger and more affluent than today’s Jaguar buyers, design-led and urban-centric.”
This is an actual quote from a Jaguar Executive, and shows a clear commitment to moving towards a new customer base. Their image as a classic British manufacturer is something they want to shake, and replace with a younger demographic. Will they do this though? It’s a huge risk, especially if sales don’t hit expected levels, and Jaguar is left with no core customer base. Whatever happens, it’s a huge risk from Jaguar, and one that didn’t really need to be made.
Sounding Off On The Jaguar Type 00
Jaguar’s new brand is bold and brave, and their new car is all of this too. It’s different and edgy, but maybe pushes the design boat too far for now. It looks futuristic, but at certain angles can seem cartoon-like. The interior is clean and luxurious, and fitting of the large price tag. If you are in the market for a large, luxury electric vehicle, the Jaguar 00 could be a decent option, although we feel the Porsche Panamera still leads the way.
It will be an interesting car to follow though, and who knows how it will be received when it hits the road in 2026.
